“A mermaid found a swimming lad,
Picked him for her own,
Pressed her body to his body,
Laughed; and plunged down
Forgot in cruel happiness
That even lovers drown.”
                                              - William Butler Yeats

Vivian is an average girl, or so she seems to think. With her senior year right around the corner, she's focused on her academia and has one goal in mind; Ivy league success. Unfortunately, life has other plans for her.
One evening, she puts her studies aside and lets herself enjoy a night out on her neighbor Marcus’s schooner. Captain of their high school's basketball team and notorious aspiring womanizer and all around bad boy, Marcus has never given Vivian a second glance. After this particular night of underaged antics, an unexpected event lands Marcus and Vivian in a deadly situation that will change everything.
As the truth of Vivian’s past unravels and the summer burns on, she’s plagued by nightmares so real, that they leave an unsettling feeling in her stomach and haunt her every thought while awake. Troubled by all of this, she finds herself turning to the one person she never thought would give her comfort.
While their relationship begins to blossom to romance, she can’t help but wonder if Marcus will change his ways for her. Little does she know, that as she digs deeper for answers to her past she’ll reveal things about herself that she never thought possible, and discover that Marcus isn’t exactly what he seems either.
